Dr. Sujatha Gunnala is a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist, providing fertility services to infertile couples.

Dr. Gunnala founded Southwest Fertility Center in 1980 following post-graduate training at two of America’s most distinguished centers for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She attended the Medical College of Pennsylvania and later Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.  Dr. Gunnala graduated from medical school with distinction. She was awarded a gold medal in Internal Medicine, achieving the highest score in her graduating class.  In addition, she scored second highest among her 300+ graduating class in all clinical subjects combined (Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology and ENT) at Osmania University.

Among Dr. Gunnala’s many accomplishments, she remains a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology plus a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She is an active member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), Society of American Reproductive Technology (SART), Reproductive Surgeons, and Advanced Laparoscopy Surgeons.

In association with other members of the center’s clinical staff, Dr. Gunnala has contributed to advancing the science and practice of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.  She has been active in research, symposiums, groundbreaking treatments and clinical trials.  She is a frequent lecturer, consultant and adjunct faculty at Midwestern University, Phoenix, AZ , Clinical assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Joseph’s Medical Center/Dignity Health and Clinical Assistant professor at University of Arizona College of Medicine, Phoenix .

Dr. Gunnala is a skilled Reproductive Surgeon with expertise in Advanced Laser Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopic surgeries . She is known by the surgical staff as “The Laser Queen”.  She has helped a vast number of women suffering from infertility related to endometriosis, uterine fibroids, tubal disease and uterine anomalies .

Being a pioneer in her field,  Dr. Gunnala started the IVF program at Southwest Fertility Center in the late 1980’s.  She is amazed at the advancements in Reproductive Medicine since the year 1978, when the world’s first test tube baby was born.  She is proud of her team of  skilled and dedicated staff at Southwest Fertility Center. Together, the team continues to offer cutting edge technology to infertile couples, through personalized care while maintaining excellent pregnancy success rates.

Dr. Gunnala has dedicated her life to the care of infertile couples.  She is passionate about helping women achieve their dream of becoming a mother. Due to her own personal experience, she understands the emotional feeling and stress that women go through when wanting a baby.  She says, “The pain of infertility is close to the heart and no one can take that pain away”.

Dr. Gunnala has been married to her husband, Suri, for over 45 years. They have two sons who have followed in her footsteps and are practicing physicians.  She is a proud grandmother of 4 beautiful grandchildren.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her  family and friends, but most of all loves spending time with her grandchildren.  She believes that grand-children are a treasure and gift to the grandparents.

She is a generous donor, past President and  volunteer at Maha Ganapati Temple of Arizona.  She is a current member on the Advisory committee, responsible for the growth and development of the temple.  She and her husband, Suri, are both life-time members of Indo American Cultural & Religious Foundation (IACRF), India Association of Phoenix (IAPHX) and Arizona Telugu Association (AZTA).  They are blessed to be able to donate to several non-profit charities in the Valley.
